Not sure when it became so good, but it did. No real point in this post, but I never see GalCiv 3 mentioned (it's all Stellaris and Endless Space 2, both great games mind you), and it deserved to have it's praises sung. The biggest difference is that it's real-time, not turn-based like a normal 4X. Impressively, it makes a good jump toward doing so. It's far more streamlined, and the Snathi are complete and utter bastards who stab you in the back and deserve to rot in hell. StarDrive wants to knock GalCiv II off its celestial perch. You know longer have to spam 9876K constructors. The ship bazaar is different but I like it. I don't know when they improved it so much, but holy crap this is the game I wanted when it released! The AI has a lot of that Gal Civ 2 charm. Ok Spore is up there too, but you get the idea. Actually scratch that, nothing can beat my disappointment for Daikatana. It was a really really big disappointment. Also suffered from a general pacing problem. So I got GalCiv 3 when it launched and was highly disappointed. However, the balance is so bad that many of the game mechanics end up being pointless. Looks nice, plays okay, races are varied, some neat customization options. Well not wanting to say anything, I booted them up since I had two hours to play before refund. Endless Space 2 is - well, Endless Space. Went and looked at Steam and saw she bought me all the Galactic Civilizations 3 expacs and DLC. The game is very fun but if you plan on playing large or mid size maps the game tends to have noticeable lag after 100 years, and that’s for a game that lasts 600 years. I knew I had the only other one so I was confused. Then she said she didn't know which one to get so she bought them all. ![]() When she told me it was in my account I got giddy. I had spoken to my wife about the upcoming Civilization expac and she bought it for me. How do Galciv 2 and 3 differ from each other And what are the similarities Here I try to give a good overview on those things, in order for you to decide which one you might like best. ![]() ![]() So I got GalCiv 3 when it launched and was highly disappointed. Stellaris is a much deeper game with complex, interacting systems, while Gal Civ 3 has very enjoyable campaigns and has an engaging strategic style of its own.
